Movies that Matter @ School

Movies that Matter @ School advises and assists schools on presenting human rights films in school. Showings can be accompanied by follow-up material and sessions, such as extensive study packets, speakers and workshops. The most elaborate package is the All Rights Film Festival, in which we present multiple films with a variety of follow-up programmes. The education department also advises NGO's, heritage institutions and other organisations targeting young people.

Youth and students award

The festival presents a youth and a students jury. Their favourite films will be granted the MovieSquad All Rights Award and the Students' Choice Award.

Young Amnesty Film Days in the Hague and Amsterdam!

This year's youth education programme of the festival, the Young Amnesty Film Days, will take place in both The Hague and Amsterdam. Between 24 and 30 March 2011, several screenings are scheduled for high school students. After each screening a discussion is scheduled with the director and/or an expert on the film's subject or the country where the film takes place. This enables students to ask questions and share their experience with each other and with the guest speakers.

Educational materials to prepare and/or evaluate the screenings in class are available free of charge. The film screenings and the educational material can be adapted to different subjects, ages and levels of education.

After the film screenings, students in The Hague can participate in 'one minute film-making' workshops, in which they learn how to put on the screen a human rights theme. A selection of these films will be shown at the festival's Award Ceremony.
The workshops are offered in collaboration with Digital Playground in Filmhuis Den Haag.
