To reduce the number of African immigrants coming to Italy, Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and Libyan leader Muammar Gadaffi agreed on a pact. In exchange for financial support, Libya pledged to contain the flow of refugees. 'Like a Man on Earth' shows the consequences of Italian anti-immigration policy. The film consists of accounts by Ethiopian refugees whose ‘crossing’ to Europe came at a high price. The interviews are made by Ethiopian national Dagmawi Yimer, who himself fled political repression in his country in 2005. He, too, fell into the hands of the Libyan police. We see how Libya, financially supported by Italy and Europe, takes action against African refugees.
