Ceasefire

Lancelot von Naso

Dutch premiere

It is a few days after Easter 2004. The war in Iraq is officially over, but everyday life is anything but normal. The situation is particularly dramatic in Fallujah, where U.S. forces besiege the city. There is little food, no medicine and virtually no medical care. The U.S. Army agrees to a 24-hour truce with the Sunni insurgents in the city. Two aid workers seize the oppportunity and travel into the city to offer assistance. Kim, from Holland – played by Thekla Reuten – and a doctor, Alain, want to deliver new supplies to the hospital in Fallujah. They receive help from Oliver, a young journalist who, with his cameraman, hopes to make a spectacular story about conditions in the besieged city. Together with an Iraqi driver, they travel down to Fallujah. What the aid workers do not know is that just before the ceasefire, the hospital had been bombed by the American army. The idealists put their lives on the line to save those of others.
