Movies that Matter International promotes human rights film screenings in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe through financial support and advice on the organization and programming of screenings and festivals.
Every year, the Movies that Matter Support Programme supports some twenty human rights film programmes in the southern hemisphere. And Movies that Matter International is the initiator of the Cinema Without Borders workshop programme.
Every two years, during the festival, Movies that Matter International organizes Cinema Without Borders, a workshop programme for inexperienced organizers of human rights film festivals.
These workshops enable some fifteen participants from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe to gather practical knowledge and expand their network, mainly through the exchange of ideas among themselves and with the guest speakers.
Cinema Without Borders Canal Tour 2008
The workshops that are part of Cinema Without Borders take place from 24 to 26 March and on 29 March in The Hague. Experienced festival organisers will engage in moderator-led discussions about the various aspects of organizing a film festival. Also, network meetings will be organised with film professionals, financial partners, if any, and NGOs.

This programme is sponsored by Stichting Democratie en Media and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
